Planet Defender - Very Cool Browser Defense Game

Planet Defender is a great browser defense game that I wanted to share. Nothing like finding a great browser game to eat up valuable hours that could be better spent being productive. I love them.

So here’s the concept, you are defending earth. You have a population, and based on that population you will receive money. Money is used to buy structures and fund research to help further defend earth. Sounds pretty simple but it does take some learning.

I am a huge fan of many of the Turret Defense browser games, and Planet Defender really has that same feel to me. It’s all about building and progressing as efficiently as possible and trying to stay one step ahead in the game.

Spoiler Alert - Don’t Continue Unless You Want Solutions and a Review

I just finished the game on Apocalypse with a rank of 82 and a score of 228307.8 Once you have a setup that will get you to the end of the game you can work on tweaking that setup to really raise your score. Here are two screenshots. The first is the setup I had when I filled the board:

nfortunately after I made it to this point, I was able to stay in this setup for what felt like forever. I didn’t even need to pay attention, I started writing this article instead. Eventually I went back and decided I needed more firepower to make it to the end.

This second screenshot is after I simply replaced economic centers with more missiles. This setup took me to the end of the game and me getting that score above:

Update 06/24/2008: I’ve spent some time tweaking and I can get to over 5000 population now.  That’s really the key it seems to get a score over 400,000.  7 missile turrets on the top row make a big difference in how fast things die.

wow it’s actually pretty fun, thanks! I might retract my praise later on when I spend way too much time on this though. =/

I keep trying to refine my strategy even after I’ve beaten it, which to me is saying a lot for a browser based game.
